Inclement Weather Procedure and Schedules

NUAMES administration pays close attention to weather events, gathering information from experts such as the National Weather Service, local conditions, etc.

Notification of a weather related delayed start, online learning day or school closure event will be made through email, text, automated phone calls, the NUAMES website and social media platforms. NUAMES tries to make every effort to do this as early as possible. If you currently are not following the school on Instagram and Facebook we invite you to do so.

Full school closures are rare. Delayed starts are more common, in that they allow time for the roads to be cleared and for conditions to improve. If conditions are such that a delayed start is not wise, NUAMES will shift to an online learning day. Instructions will be sent to students via their CANVAS courses. Once an online learning day has been determined, students will need to login to their classes via CANVAS.

NUAMES campuses service students from 56 feeder schools and cover a large geographical area. The weather conditions where you live may be very different than near the NUAMES school campus. If you are concerned about the road conditions you are always welcome to keep your student at home and they will be allowed to complete any school work they miss due to an inclement weather event.
