Impartiality & Belonging

NUAMES is a warm, safe, welcoming environment for all students and faculty.

NUAMES’ approach to education is a student-centered, individualized approach where a sense of mattering drives student outcomes. NUAMES is an early college high school where students have the opportunity to work on high school and college credit simultaneously. The learning environment is rigorous and supportive. NUAMES is known for its safe, inclusive, and welcoming culture.

Each student matters at NUAMES.

Each student comes to NUAMES with a unique background of experiences, proficiency level and needs. NUAMES makes educational decisions based on the needs of the students who go to school, not on the needs of those who work for the school. The culture is transformative for the support it gives to students, parents, teachers, and staff members.

We believe adult culture drives student culture and we try to maintain the “three R’s”: Rigor, Relationship, and Relevance.  Rigor for students and staff/teachers, relationships between staff, staff/teachers and administration, staff and teachers, student to student, administration to the student. And that NUAMES curriculum and coursework is relevant and prepares students well to compete in a digitally advanced society.

NUAMES is known to be a safe school for students. NUAMES invests in shaping student behavior as well as creating a culture where all are accepted, valued and everyone has a purpose. NUAMES has zero tolerance for bullying and has been recognized as the Safest School District in the Nation, for 2021 and 2022 (niche.com). NUAMES students report, in multiple school culture surveys that they feel valued, safe, cared for and that their time at NUAMES is meaningful and worthwhile.

NUAMES has played host to many visitors who visit NUAMES to discover the secret to our success. These visitors have included State Legislators, Utah State Charter Board Members, National Conferences (National Conference for Concurrent Enrollment), Weber State Board of Trustees, Board of Regents, Utah high school principals, teachers, counselors, and educators. NUAMES has hosted countless seminars for other charter schools, as well as local schools to gather information on how NUAMES is moving student learning forward. NUAMES has a culture of sharing best practices and moving education forward for all schools, not just NUAMES  and is a member of the Early College Alliance, The Ogden Community Action Network and the Davis Educational Network.

The #1 compliment I get, bar none, is how welcoming and warm our school is. Despite being STEM Focus with technology, engineering, math and science - NUAMES is warm, welcoming and support learning environment where students thrive. Everyone is someone at NUAMES. Some students come for the rigor, and some come because it’s known as a safe place to be.
